The Leasing Advantage

Hunter Benefits

In today’s ever increasing urbanization, with more medium to large tracts of private land being purchased by developers for housing, retail shopping centers and industrial parks. And in some cases which can be just as bad, purchased by Natural Land Wildlife Organizations. The former taking any type of hunting right out of the picture and the latter limiting your hunting time, dealing with the politics of who gets to hunt where and generally turning private land into the same problems we’ve all had with public land hunting.

Leasing is an inexpensive alternative. One which will give you quality hunting ground, the security and safety of hunting your own property, no competition for good spots, being able to select location, property size, and who will be your hunting comrades.

As compared to an outfitted hunt, where one week is generally the rule and you are placed in a site selected by the outfitter and hunting with others who may or may not offer the comradely your looking for, leasing private land will be about one third the cost, you will be able to hunt with friends, family and others of your own choosing, and most of all hunt when it is convenient to you.

Private land leases will allow you to build permanent relationship with the land owner. At first through a land lease contract, and later through a personal friendship with the land owner to develop a wildlife habitat management area. Hence building towards a controlled, healthy, big game population.

If you eventually desire to own your own recreational property in a particular area, leasing at first is a great way of scoping out the area before you make that big commitment.

Land Owner Benefits

As a farmer, rancher, resident or non-resident land owner, leasing is both profitable and a productive use for your ground. To off-set today’s ever increasing expenses a wise choice would be establishing your property as a weekly, seasonal or yearly hunting lease operation that would bring in additional income. Leasing will also give you the control over who, when and where will be hunting on your property, this is important for peace of mind.

An additional benefit of leasing out your land to hunters will be the reduction of crop damage through selective harvesting of wildlife (deer and turkey). Once you become comfortable with the hunting group selected and they realize the investment both parties have in the land, creating a wildlife management habitat and respect for all of the property in general will create a comfort zone for the land owner.

By leasing out to a known entity, many other problems can be prevented such as illegal trespassing, poaching and the liability that comes with each of these problems. Land lease contracts (Provided through Heartland Hunting Properties) can be established that would require a hunter’s insurance policy providing liability relief for the property owner.

Another major benefit, which normally might not be thought of, is avoiding any feuding between family, friends and even local residents who stake a claim to your land for hunting purposes with the idea that they have complete control. By leasing out the farm this problem is a non-issue.
